What - Keechdesign's close partnership with Yamaha Music was formed when David Keech moved to Japan in 2003 to join their Hamamatsu Design Lab, acting as a key force in the internationalisation of Yamaha's design team, and the first non-Japanese designer to join the in-house operation. Upon David's return to London, and the founding of Keechdesign, the close relationship has continued and we have been a constant partner of Yamaha Design Studio London.
How - Yamaha regularly send talented members of their Japanese design team to work in London. Sharing studio space with us, they create projects, build networks and gather information on culture and trends, creating a satellite design office for their Japan HQ. Over the years we have collaborated on many project types: POS design, audio visual products design, exhibition design, retail interiors, and more recently high-end audio products using exciting new materials.
Outcome - Keechdesign continues to support Yamaha's international activities and our close relationship continues to thrive in an ever changing international environment. We look forward to continued collaboration and the development of Yamaha’s indispensable global presence in sound and music.
