Table for Duke
What - Our success with the Kumu chair led to further exploration of the versatility of CNC cut plywood, and and the possibilities of creating sculptural structures for furniture out of simple, sustainable production processes. In this case, a coffee table, the plywood pieces are locked together via simple half joints to form an elegant structure supporting a glass table top.
How - From first sketches and card models, to pre-production prototypes, the entire process was handled here in the studio.
How - We believe it is vital for designers to regularly make things with their own hands. This keeps our understanding of form, manufacturing techniques and detail finely tuned.
This table demonstrates that furniture can be beautifully designed, sustainable, and importantly, inexpensive to manufacture and own.
